Growing the Magnificent Peace Rose Bush
If you enjoy growing roses, or if you are just now getting started in growing roses, chances are you have
researched many of the different species available. One of the great benefits of growing roses is that you could
choose bushes with miniature blooms, go with bushes that grow upwards of 30 feet, or grow roses with unique blooms
of beautiful colors. Of course, the fragrance that goes along with growing roses is one of the top benefits.
However, we wanted to provide information on one of the best known and loved of all species – the Peace Rose
Bush.
In 1946, the Peace Rose Bush received the coveted AARS award and then in 1976, this species was inducted into
the World Federation of Rose Societies Hall of Fame. For the past five decades, people around the world have
enjoyed growing this particular rose, known for its unique blooms and sweet aroma. Unlike other blooms, those on
the Peace Rose Bush are white, featuring a vibrant pink outline. Another interesting aspect of these blooms is that
each one can grow as many as 45 petals while not losing its magnificent fragrance.
People that grow Peace Rose Bushes also appreciate the ease in which this species is grown, being highly
resistant to most of the common diseases that affect roses. Even the foliage of this species is unique, being deep
green, glossy, and quite large. Therefore, the combination of gorgeous blooms and shiny leaves makes the Rose Peace
Bush attractive, the real showcase in the garden.
Again, the Peace Rose bush is one of the most popular but also one of the easiest to grow. However, this species
does best in zones five through nine and on average, the bush will reach three feet high. For the best blooms, this
rose species needs some sunlight but it also needs to be protected during the afternoon when direct sunlight is
simply too hot. Regarding soil, the Peace Rose Bush prefers soil that is rich in nutrients and well drained.
To make sure that your Peace Rose Bush grows the largest, most colorful and fragrant, and the healthiest blooms
possible, pruning is imperative. This should be done during the early part of spring but after you begin to see the
development of buds. Keeping the bush pruned every year will ensure you have a magnificent addition to the garden
in that blooms from the Peace Rose Bush grow from the prior year’s flowers.
Finally, the versatility you get from the Peace Rose Bush is one of the most appealing aspects of growing this
species. For example, this rose bush can be used as the focus in your garden, planted as a hedge on the side of the
house or under a window, or planted as a standalone bush to bring color to an otherwise bare part of the property.
No matter the choice you make or the number of plants you decide to purchase, the one thing we know for certain is
that you will not be disappointed with the incredible beauty and fragrance that the Peace Rose Bush
offers.
